Starting September 15th, 2023, the 11th Drive NE entrance will be closed. Please use the 8th Ave NE entrance.Recycling Center 9.15.2023

Recycling drop-off is available 24/7 using the drive-up windows located on the west side of the building.

Please visit the City of Austin website for information on the Transfer Station location, hours and acceptable waste.

Household Hazardous Waste - Open Wednesdays

No drop-off outside of business hours.  

Acceptable Materials

Examples of products that can be brought to the household hazardous waste facility (during business hours only: Wednesdays 8-12a & 1-5p) are:

  • Acids
  • Adhesives
  • Aerosols
  • Gasoline
  • Household pesticides
  • Latex\oil based paints
  • Solvents
  • Stains
  • Varnishes

Materials That Are Not Accepted

We do not accept the following wastes:

  • Agricultural pesticides or fertilizers
  • Alkaline, NiCad button, or automobile batteries (Regular dry cell alkaline batteries (AAA, AA, C, D) are not hazardous waste items. These can be simply disposed of by placing in your normal trash.)
  • Antifreeze
  • Business wastes
  • Explosive materials
  • Fluorescent bulbs
  • Medical waste
  • Motor oil or oil filters
  • Radioactive waste
  • Tires

Guidelines for Drop-off

Must be at least 18 years of age or older, a resident of Mower County, and must be able to provide a valid driver's license or other valid ID upon request. Any household hazardous waste that is dropped off or left unattended before a proper authorization is considered illegal dumping and will be prosecuted as such.
