2021 Mower County Burn Permit

Effective January 1, 2021 the Mower County Burn Permit will be issued from Environmental Services through an Online Permit Application.  The paper application for Mower County Burn Permits is no longer be available.  Permits will be received via email.  A computer will be available at the Public Works building for people who do not have access to internet or email, and we will accept in-person payments at the Public Works office during normal business hours (7a-4p, M-F).  The base fee for 2021 permits will remain at $20.00; there will be an additional $1.50 service charge for the credit card transaction.  The online service will accept payments via credit card. Payments for online permits can also be sent via mail, or accepted in-person at the Public Works Office during normal business hours.  Please be advised, permits cannot be issued until payment is received; application payments received by mail will experience a delay.   Please note: at this time payments must be made in-person at the Public Works Building (1105 8th Ave NE, Austin) from 7a - 4p (M-F), sent by mail to the same address, or paid with credit card over the phone (service charge will apply). Please call 507-437-7718 to arrange payment. An integrated payment system is in development, however, with the high demand for online services we were unable to have this available for 2021 release.  For questions, please call or email
