Employment Opportunity: Public Health Nurse - Community Health

Starting wage is $25.1395 per hour (full-time union position). This position protects and promotes the health of Mower County citizens through the delivery of education and health services. Duties include, coordinating the care of individuals eligible for public health services; conducting public clinics to treat, screen, and prevent health concerns; investigating community health threats; preparing for public health emergencies; establishing contacts with local service providers; and educating community groups, schools, and the public on a variety of health topics.

Knowledge of local, state, and federal guidelines/statutes for public health is required upon entry. Minimum qualifications are a Bachelor’s degree in nursing with a current Registered Nurse licensure and Public Health nurse certification. Requires a valid driver’s license or evidence of equivalent mobility. Plus related work experience sufficient to perform the duties of this job in accordance with equivalencies established by MN Merit System. A pre-employment criminal back ground check is required.

Employment Opportunity: Sign/Highway Technician Trainee

Starting wage is $19.6888 - $21.8542. The Sign/Highway Technician Trainee is a training position with the requirement to pass required certifications within first year of employment. This position is responsible for installing, maintaining and replacing all traffic and road signs on all County roads and bridges; coordinating rural addressing and striping programs for the County; and upon completion of certifications will perform testing and inspection tasks on County road and bridge projects. This position requires a High school diploma or equivalent with emphasis in industrial arts, mechanics or construction and two years of previous highway maintenance, construction and equipment operation experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience to successfully perform the essential duties of the job. Candidate must possess strong computer skills.

Licensing Requirements at Entry:
     C.D.L Class B License & MnDOT Health Card– must be maintained
Licensing Requirements within First Year of Employment:
     • MnDOT Technical Certification in the following areas:
        • Aggregate Production (Prerequisite to any other Certification)
