Employment Opportunity: Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Intern

Mower County is seeking applicants for a Geographic Information Systems (GIS) intern in the Information & Technology department. The wage for this position is $15.00 per hour. This internship is a full-time, temporary, summer, non-union position, working Monday-Friday

The GIS Intern will report to the GIS Administrator on projects that will entail applying a variety of GIS skills and abilities to providing mapping and analysis services to internal customers and the public. This includes performing GIS data editing using ArcGIS; identifying technical issues and problems related to assigned projects; providing assistance in developing solutions and process modifications, plus knowledge of cartographic principles, GIS analytical concepts and the ability to use GIS software to apply them.

Minimum qualifications include the completion of significant coursework in GIS, Geography, Computer Science, or a related field including hands-on experience with GIS software through internships or class projects. Experience must also demonstrate technical competency with ESRI software. A valid Driver’s License is required.

Employment Opportunity: Female Bailiff (on-call)

The Mower County Sheriff’s Office has an opening and is accepting applications for an on-call, non-benefited, non-union Female Bailiff. The wage is $15.6313 per hour. Bailiff’s are scheduled on an as needed basis and generally work less than 20 hours per week.

Bailiffs work with a variety of court personnel, government workers and lawyers. The positions primary role is to maintain order and provide security in courtrooms and jury rooms, although many of their day-to-day duties are administrative in nature. Requires a High School Diploma or G.E.D. Must be able to pass a criminal history background check.
