Mower County has an opening and is accepting applications for an Office Support Specialist in the Health & Human Services department. Starting wage is $18.1213 per hour (full-time union position).

This position performs clerical and administrative duties along with providing excellent customer service. Responsibilities may include collecting and reviewing information; processing applications, forms, licenses, permits and other documents; and maintaining records and related system or databases.

Minimum qualifications are a High School Diploma or G.E.D and one year administrative support or related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience plus equivalencies required by MN Merit System. A pre-employment criminal background check is required.

Employment Opportunity: Dispatcher/Communications Clerk Roster

Mower County is currently accepting applications to establish a roster of eligible candidates for potential future openings in the Mower County Sheriff’s Department for the Dispatcher/Communications Clerk position. The Dispatcher is a full-time union position working primarily a 10 hour schedule on either 2nd shift or 3rd shift. This position works weekends and holidays. 

The position is responsible for dispatching law enforcement, 911 and emergency vehicles and personnel (law enforcement, ambulance, fire, emergency management, first responders) within Mower County. Duties include: monitoring radio traffic of emergency personnel; dispatching of 911 calls and law enforcement personnel; provides information and assistance to callers according to department guidelines, dispatch procedures and routines; updates logs of dispatched calls, records, incidents and actions; conducts license checks, criminal history checks, missing person or stolen property checks; assists in maintaining department files, records, reports and provides clerical support within the department.  

Position requires up to one year of specialized or technical training beyond high school in business management, computers, clerical skills or communication or equivalent combination of education and experience to successfully perform the duties of this position. The completion of a Terminal Operator’s Certificate is required within six months of hire. Starting Wage is: $21.26/hour.

Requirements: High School Diploma or G.E.D and one year of general work experience. 2019 Starting wage is $21.26/hour, plus an additional 90₵/hr. between 5pm-7am and 40₵/hr. on Sundays.
