Mower County has an opening for a full-time Probation Officer. This position is responsible for overseeing adult and juvenile offenders to ensure the safety of the public and that court ordered requirements are achieved. Responsibilities may include: carrying a caseload of offenders to ensure requirements are met, performing investigations and interviews to assess the risk of offenders; providing recommendations to the court to aid in sentencing of offenders; ensuring documentation and all offender information is updated and available; and providing on-site visits and investigations of offenders and offender residences.

Minimum requirements include a Bachelor’s degree in Corrections or related field; completion of 400 hour internship in Corrections; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Must possess a valid Minnesota Driver’s License. Salary range $30.6846-$41.4241 depending on experience.

Under the Human Resources Director, this position completes payroll processing and benefits administration for the county in accordance with laws, policies, and collective bargaining agreements. Responsibilities also include maintaining payroll data for employees; coordinating benefit open enrollment processes; reconciling county insurance benefits bills; communicating with benefit providers, third party administrators, employees and retirees; ensuring compliance with COBRA and state benefit continuation laws; ACA reporting; and quarterly/year-end tax preparation and submission.

Associate's degree or two-year technical certificate in business administration or related field and 2 years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Prefer experience working in government sector in a payroll related function.

Starting salary is $80,157.38 - $108,212.41, based on qualifications.

Under the direction of the Public Works Director, the Assistant Public Works Director is responsible for providing professional highway design, traffic engineering and analysis in the development of highway construction and traffic engineering plans. This position will serve as acting Director in the absence of the Public Works Director. This position also includes construction management and supervision of construction activities, assisting in budget preparation, coordination and management of professional engineering consultants, administration of bridge safety inspection program, and additional tasks as assigned by the Director. It is essential for incumbent to have strong interpersonal and communication skills for interacting with the public, co-workers and staff members.

Summer Internship Opportunity: Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Intern

Mower County is seeking applicants for a Geographic Information Systems (GIS) intern in the Information & Technology department. The wage for this position is $15.00 per hour. This internship is a full-time, temporary, summer, non-union position, working Monday-Friday.

The GIS Intern will report to the GIS Administrator on projects that will entail applying a variety of GIS skills and abilities to providing mapping and analysis services to internal customers and the public. This includes performing GIS data editing using ArcGIS; identifying technical issues and problems related to assigned projects; providing assistance in developing solutions and process modifications, plus knowledge of cartographic principles, GIS analytical concepts and the ability to use GIS software to apply them.

Minimum qualifications include the completion of significant coursework in GIS, Geography, Computer Science, or a related field including hands-on experience with GIS software through internships or class projects. Experience must also demonstrate technical competency with ESRI software.  A valid Driver’s License is required.

The position is responsible for dispatching law enforcement, 911 and emergency vehicles and personnel (law enforcement, ambulance, fire, emergency management, first responders) within Mower County. Duties include: monitoring radio traffic of emergency personnel; dispatching of 911 calls and law enforcement personnel; provides information and assistance to callers according to department guidelines, dispatch procedures and routines; updates logs of dispatched calls, records, incidents and actions; conducts license checks, criminal history checks, missing person or stolen property checks; assists in maintaining department files, records, reports and provides clerical support within the department.

Position requires up to one year of specialized or technical training beyond high school in business management, computers, clerical skills or communication or equivalent combination of education and experience to successfully perform the duties of this position. The completion of a Terminal Operator’s Certificate is required within six months of hire.  Starting Wage is: $21.2633
