Starting wage is $23.3225 per hour (full-time union position). This position implements community-based health promotion strategies primarily in nutrition and physical activity focusing on policy, systems, and environment change. Duties include; community engagement, building partnerships, conducting presentations, meeting facilitation, assessment, strategic planning, policy development and implementation, evaluation, and providing consultation and assistance to individuals and groups in community, school, worksite and health care settings. Also analyzes and interprets data and reports findings.  

Knowledge of public health principles, programs, policies and practices is required upon entry. Minimum qualifications are a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Public Health, Health Education, Health Policy or related field plus 1 year experience working with policy, systems, and environmental change; or an equivalent combination of education and experience to successfully perform the duties of the job. Requires a valid driver’s license. A pre-employment criminal back ground check is required.

Employment Opportunity: Mechanic - Public Works

Mower County is accepting applications for Mechanic - Public Works (full-time, union position) Starting wage is $21.51 – $24.09 per hour dependent upon education and experience.

Mechanics are responsible for troubleshooting, diagnosis, repair and maintenance of all county owned vehicles and equipment.  The position performs truck inspections as required by MnDOT. Also, assists in the maintenance and repair of culverts by performing welding responsibilities. Installs and maintains equipment and radios on all Sheriff’s department vehicles.  

Position requires an Associate’s Degree or Vocational certificate in automotive, truck and heavy equipment repair and one year experience in the repair and maintenance of heavy road and vehicle equipment; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the duties of the job and a valid MN Class A commercial driver’s license. Successful applicant will be required to attain the following certifications/endorsements/trainings within six months of hire: MNDOT Truck Inspector, Air Conditioning Certification, Tanker Endorsement, Forklift Training, and A.S.E. Certification in brakes, suspension and steering on cars, light trucks, heavy trucks, and equipment. Pre-employment drug and alcohol testing will be conducted and must maintain a valid MNDOT health card.
